District 16-6A boys’ soccer players earn 2025-26 league honors

May 1, 2026—District 16-6A boys’ soccer coaches recently released the 2025-26 16-6A All-District Boys' Soccer Team after both Cypress Lakes High School and Cypress Woods High School advanced to the area round of playoffs.

Bridgeland High School won the district title for the third year in a row, and the Bears were rewarded with plenty of accolades. Junior Patrick McHugh became Bridgeland’s first-ever boys’ soccer District MVP, junior J.P. Somarriba was named Goalkeeper of the Year after keeping 11 clean sheets and senior forward James Duffy earned Offensive Player of the Year after scoring 25 goals. Bridgeland Head Coach Justo Manrique also brought home Coach of the Year honors.

Elsewhere, Cypress Woods junior Emiliano Irazoqui was the Defensive Player of the Year, Cypress Lakes junior Ruben Andrade, a U-17 international for El Salvador, won Midfielder of the Year, and Cypress Springs High School sophomore goalkeeper Hassan Hadab earned Newcomer of the Year honors.
